Relative clause

Relative Clause เป็นการระบุหรือพูดถึงคน ๆ ไหน หรือสิ่ง ๆ ใด ด้วยการใช้ relative pronoun (เช่น who, which, that, whose, of which เทียบกับภาษาไทยว่า ที่ ซึ่ง อัน) มาแทนคำที่จะระบุนั้น ๆ

หลักการของ Relative Pronoun
1. ทำหน้าที่แทนและเป็นประธานของประโยคย่อย
2. มีความหมายว่า ที่ ซึ่งอัน
3. เอากริยาประโยคย่อยมาใช้ได้เลย

ตัวอย่างการสร้างประโยค Relative Clause

ตัวอย่างที่ 1 ขยายแบบเป็นประธาน
ประโยคที่ 1   The dryer is on the table.
ประโยคที่ 2   The dryer is out of order.

ประโยค 2 ประโยคคือ
1.ไดร์เป่าผมวางอยุ่บนโต๊ะ
2. ไดร์เป่าผมเสีย

เรากำลังจะเชื่อมให้กลายเป็น ไดร์เป่าผมที่วางอยุ่บนโต๊ะเสีย

ในประโยคย่อย The dryer is out of order. (ไดร์เป่าผมเสีย) นั้น the dryer เป็นประธาน เมื่อจะเอาไปขยายประโยคที่ 1 ก็ต้องขยายแบบประธานที่เป็นสิ่งที่ไม่ใช่คน จึงต้องใช้ which แทน ดังนี้

The dryer which is on the table is out of order.

ตัวอย่างที่ 2 ขยายแบบเป็นกรรม
ประโยคที่ 1   The dryer is on the table.
ประโยคที่ 2   I use the dryer every day.

ประโยค 2 ประโยคคือ
1.ไดร์เป่าผมวางอยุ่บนโต๊ะ
2. ฉันใช้ไดร์เป่าผมทุกวัน

เรากำลังจะเชื่อมให้กลายเป็น ไดร์เป่าที่ฉันใช้ทุกวันวางอยุ่บนโต๊ะเสีย
ในประโยคย่อย I use the dryer every day. (ฉันใช้ไดร์เป่าผมทุกวัน) นั้น the dryer เป็นกรรม เมื่อจะเอาไปขยายประโยคที่ 1 ก็ต้องขยายแบบกรรมที่เป็นสิ่งที่ไม่ใช่คน จึงต้องใช้ which แทน ดังนี้

The dryer which I use every day is on the table.

ซึ่งคำว่า I use every day จะตามหลัง which มาคั่นหลัง the dryer ทันที แล้วค่อยตามมาด้วย is on the table.

ตัวอย่างที่ 3 ขยายแบบแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ
ประโยคที่ 1   The driver is my cousin.
ประโยคที่ 2   His car was stolen last week.

ประโยค 2 ประโยคคือ
1. คนขับรถคือเป็นพี่ลูกน้องของฉัน
2. รถยนต์ของเขาถูกขโมยเมื่ออาทิตย์ที่แล้ว

เรากำลังจะเชื่อมให้กลายเป็น คนขับรถคนที่รถยนต์ (ของเขา) ถูกขโมยเมื่ออาทิตย์ที่แล้วเป็นลูกพี่ลูกน้องของฉัน
ในประโยคย่อย His car was stolen last week(รถยนต์ของเขาถูกขดมยเมื่ออาทิตย์ที่แล้ว) นั้น his car แสดงความเป็นเจ้าของให้ driver เมื่อจะเอาไปขยายประโยคที่ 1 ก็ต้องขยายแบบแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของที่เป็นคน จึงต้องใช้ whose แทน ดังนี้

The driver whose car was stolen last week is my cousin.

ซึ่งคำว่า whose car จะตามหลัง driver แล้วตามด้วย was stolen last week ทันที แล้วค่อยตามมาด้วย is my cousin.

Subject-verb Agreement

Subject-verb Agreement

(Habits and routines)

กริยาจะต้องเป็นกริยาในรูป present simple tense ผันตามประธาน 2 กรณีคือ

1.1 ถ้าประธานเป็น I, you, we, they กริยาจะไม่มีการผันใด ๆ

ตัวอย่างที่ 1
-I cook Thai food every day.
(every day เป็นตัวบอกว่าเป็นกิจวัตร)

ตัวอย่างที่ 2
-They come from Thailand. They look different from us. (เป็นข้อเท็จจริง)

1.2 ถ้าประธานเป็นเอกพจน์ he, she, it หรือชื่อคน ๆ เดียว หรือคำนามรูปเอกพจน์ กริยาจะมีการผัน คือต้องเติม s หรือ es

- เติม - es ต่อท้ายคำกริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย ch, o, s, sh, x, z
ตัวอย่างคำกริยา เช่น catch, watch, do, go, fix, wish, wash, push, glitz, spritz เป็นต้น

ตัวอย่างที่ 3
-Susan watches TV in the morning.

ตัวอย่างที่ 4
-He does his work very quickly.

- เติม - ies ต่อท้ายคำกริยาลงท้ายด้วย y โดยตัด y ออกก่อน
แล้วจึงเติม - es เช่น modify, rely, satisfy, etc.

ตัวอย่างที่ 5
- My son relies on me.

ตัวอย่างที่ 6
The food taste satisfies the guests.

เติม - s ต่อท้ายคำกริยาลงท้ายด้วย y สำหรับคำที่ข้างหน้า y เป็นสระ a, e, o, u  เช่น  buy, say, destroy, lay, etc. คือเติม -s ได้เลย

ตัวอย่างที่ 7
The manager says something every morning.

ตัวอย่างที่ 8
- My wife usually buys iced tea from the shop in Surat town.

คำบางคำที่ต้องจดจำว่าเป็นประะธานเอกพจน์หรือพหูพจน์

1. all หรือ all of

all จะอยู่หน้าคำนามรูปพหูพจน์ หรือ นามนับไม่ได้ เพื่อพูดถึง "ทั้งหมด นับรวม"  ให้ผันกริยาตามคำนาม
All of the rice (rice เป็นนามนับไม่ได้) กริยาผันสอดคล้องกับประธานเอกพจน์
All of the students (students เป็นนามนับได้พหูพจน์) กริยาผันสอดคล้องกับประธานพหูพจน์

เช่น
ตัวอย่างที่ 9
All the sugar in the jar is bad.

ตัวอย่างที่ 10
All the passengers in this flight love the demonstrations.

2. some หรือ some of

some จะอยู่หน้าคำนามรูปพหูพจน์ หรือ นามนับไม่ได้ เพื่อพูดถึง "บางส่วน บ้าง หรือจำนวนหนึ่ง"

ตัวอย่างที่ 11
Some of the coconut milk smells bad.
กะทิบางส่วนมีกลิ่นไม่ดี

(coconut milk เป็นประธานที่เป็นนามนับไม่ได้) กริยาผันสอดคล้องกับประธานเอกพจน์

ตัวอย่างที่ 12
Some of the students don't want to go to the stadium.
นักเรียนบางคนไม่อยากไปที่สนามกีฬา

(students เป็นนามนับได้พหูพจน์) กริยาผันสอดคล้องกับประธานพหูพจน์

หมายเหตุ

คำอื่น ๆ ที่เป็นประธานแล้วกริยาจะผันโดยดูนามที่ตามหลังเช่นเดียวกับ all of ... หรือ some of ... มีดังนี้

คำว่า a lot of
คำว่า a lot of + นามนับไม่ได้
คำว่า a lot of + นามนับได้พหูพจน์

คำว่า many of
คำว่า many of + นามนับได้พหูพจน์

คำว่า a number of
คำว่า a number of + นามนับได้พหูพจน์

3. none of

none of จะอยู่หน้าคำนามรูปพหูพจน์ เพื่อพูดถึง "ไม่สักอัน ไม่สักคน ไม่มีเลย" เช่น

ผันกริยาเหมือนประธานเป็นเอกพจน์เสมอ

ตัวอย่างที่ 13
None of the children wants to see the fight.
(เด็กทุกคนไม่.... หรือ ไม่มีเด็กซักคนที่ .....)
แปลว่า ไม่มีเด็กอยากเห็นการต่อสู้สักคน

(children เป็นนามนับได้ พหูพจน์ก็จริง) แต่กริยาผันให้กับประธานรูปเอกพจน์

หมายเหตุ

คำที่เป็นประธานแล้วกริยาจะเป็นกริยาของประธานเอกพจน์เหมือนกัน none of มีดังนี้

คำว่า no
- no + นามนับไม่ได้
- no + นามนับได้พหูพจน์

คำว่า neither of
- neither of + นามนับได้พหูพจน์

คำว่า either of หรือ either + นามเอกพจน์
- either of + นามนับได้พหูพจน์
- either + นามเอกพจน์

4. neither...nor.../either...or...
ทั้งสองคำนี้ต้องดูว่าหลัง nor หรือ or เป็นคำนามเอกพจน์หรือพหูพจน์ แล้วให้ผันกริยาตามคำนามนั้น เช่น

ตัวอย่างที่ 14

Neither the teacher nor the students go to the cinema.
(กริยาผันตามประธานที่อยู่หลัง nor)

ตัวอย่างที่ 15

Either Somsri or the her daughters are going to Central for dinner tonight.
(กริยาผันตามประธานที่อยู่หลัง or)

TOEIC Part 2 Question-Response

Part 2 Question-Response
